SILVERADO SCHOOL CARES ABOUT THE COMMUNITY
Silverado Cooking School is proud to have partnered with Queen of the Valley Medical Center to expand and support Cooking Matters®, a nationwide program that empowers families with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to prepare healthy, tasty and affordable meals. Our staff volunteers the kitchen and time every Tuesday night to host this class.
The No Kid Hungry campaign strives to end childhood hunger in America by connecting kids in need with nutritious food and teaching families how to cook healthy, affordable meals through Cooking Matters®. With the help of volunteer culinary and nutrition experts, participants learn to shop smarter, make healthier food choices, and cook delicious meals.
Silverado Cooking School is working to expand the existing program and incorporate a farm component, so participants understand where their food comes from. We will farm a plot of land to grow produce for the classes and it will also allow the students to take home a share of produce every week.
